What Drives The Price

  • Size & pitch. Bigger, steeper roofs take more materials, more time and more careful access.
  • Condition. A roof needing lots of tile replacement, new timbers or re-bedding costs more than one that just needs a repair.
  • Access & scaffolding. Taller terraces, tight streets and awkward rooflines - common in central Brighton and Hove - take longer to work on safely and often need scaffold.
  • Materials. Natural slate, quality membranes and lead cost more up front but last far longer, which is where the value is.
  • Preparation. With flat roofs and rendering especially, the prep - stripping back, sorting falls, priming - is a big part of the job and the cost.

Cost FAQs

Why do you quote after a survey instead of over the phone?

Because a fair price depends on things you can only judge in person - the size and pitch of the roof, its condition, access, and how much preparation or repair is needed. A phone figure would either be padded to be safe or too low to be real. A free survey means the price reflects your actual roof.

Is a repair cheaper than a re-roof?

Usually, yes - often by a long way. If the covering is sound and the problem is localised, a repair is far cheaper than re-covering the whole roof. If slates or tiles are failing across the board, we'll tell you honestly that a re-roof is the better spend rather than repeated repairs.

Do you charge for quotes?

No. Every quote is completely free and comes with no obligation. We'll survey the job, talk through your options, and give you a clear written price with the work itemised.
