- Wind-driven coastal rain. South-westerly gales off the Channel push rain hard against roofs and walls from Brighton to Worthing, finding its way into any slipped slate, tired flat roof or failed flashing.
- Salt air on the coast. Homes near the seafront in Hove and Shoreham deal with salt-laden air that corrodes nail fixings, lead flashings and metal fittings faster than inland.
- Ageing period roofs. Sussex is full of Victorian slate terraces and clay-tiled cottages where the covering may be sound but the underlay, ridges and flashings are well past their best.
- Damp and moss. Wet winters and heavy tree cover around Haywards Heath and the Weald keep north-facing roofs shaded and mossy, and gutters constantly full of debris.
- Value and peace of mind. A sound, watertight roof protects everything beneath it - and reassures buyers and surveyors when it's time to sell.
Why Choose N Fullers?
When you call N Fullers you deal directly with the team who actually turn up and do the work - not a call centre passing you to a subcontractor you've never met. We take real pride in a job done properly, and we'd rather give you honest advice than push a bigger job than you need.
- Free roof surveys and no-obligation written quotes
- Fully insured for all roofing and home improvement work
- Quality materials, proven methods and safe access
- Tidy work areas and a full clean-up once we're done
- Honest advice on repair vs re-roof - no upselling
Around 7 in 10 of the roofs we're called out to look at across Brighton and Burgess Hill need a targeted repair rather than a full replacement - homeowners are often surprised how much sound roof is left once a leak is traced back to its real source.

What Sussex Homeowners Say
Real feedback from customers across Brighton, Burgess Hill and Sussex. Star ratings reflect completed roofing work.
"We had a leak coming through the bedroom ceiling of our Victorian terrace in Hove. N Fullers traced it to a cracked lead flashing round the chimney - not where the stain was - and had it sorted properly within a couple of days. Tidy, honest and a fair price."
"The old felt roof on our extension in Burgess Hill was leaking every time it rained. They fitted a new EPDM rubber roof with proper falls so no more pooling. Great job, cleaned up after themselves and explained everything clearly."
"Full re-roof on our 1930s semi in Worthing - stripped it back, new underlay, battens and tiles, all new flashings. The scaffolding went up and the whole job was done in under a week. Looks superb and the quote was itemised with no surprises."
"Our roof in Haywards Heath was green with moss and the gutters kept blocking. They cleared the lot, treated the roof and cleared the gutters, and spotted a slipped tile while they were up there. Really pleased with the difference."
"Chimney on our Lewes cottage was crumbling and letting damp in. N Fullers repointed it, renewed the flaunching and put proper lead flashings in. They understood it's a period property and did it sympathetically. Highly recommend."

Which areas do you cover?
We're a local Sussex team based around Brighton and Burgess Hill, and we cover the whole surrounding area - Hove, Haywards Heath, Hassocks, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing and the towns and villages between them. If you're not sure whether you're in range, give us a call and we'll let you know.
Do you offer free quotes?
Always. Every quote is free and based on an actual survey of your roof, so the price reflects your home rather than a rough guess over the phone. There's no obligation and no pressure - just a clear written price and honest advice on what the roof actually needs.
Are you insured and is the work guaranteed?
Yes. N Fullers Roofing and Home Improvements is fully insured for all the work we carry out, and every job is backed by a written workmanship guarantee. Materials such as tiles, membranes and coatings carry their own manufacturer's warranties on top. We'll explain exactly what's covered before we start.
Do I need planning permission for roofing work?
For most homes, a like-for-like re-roof or repair is permitted development and doesn't need planning permission. Listed buildings and some conservation areas - common in central Brighton and Lewes - can need consent, especially if the material changes. We'll flag anything relevant and point you to the right council.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
It depends on the roof. If the covering is largely sound and the problem is localised, a repair is the sensible choice. If slates or tiles are widely slipping, the underlay has perished, or you're getting leaks in several places, a re-roof usually works out better value than repeated repairs. We'll give you an honest assessment, not a sales pitch.
How quickly can you come out for a leak?
For active leaks and storm damage we aim to get someone out quickly to make the roof safe and assess the problem, often within a day or two depending on the diary and the weather. Planned work is then booked at a time that suits you.
